Walter Smithwick IV, M. D., graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a B.E. in Electrical Engineering. He received his medical degree from the University of Vanderbilt, College of Medicine. Dr. Smithwick served his residency training in Ophthalmology and a Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Smithwick is a member of several local and national medical societies and is an Associate Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at UF Health in Jacksonville. He has served as Chief of the Section of Ophthalmology of St. Vincents Medical Center Riverside. Dr. Smithwick is committed to providing comprehensive eye care to his patients and specializes in reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, lacrimal system, and orbit.
Dr. Smithwick is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is married to Katherine Smithwick and is the father of two children. Dr. Smithwick enjoys running and is an outdoor enthusiast.
